Marl Chemical Park is located in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), Germany's most industrialized federal state and one of the most important economic regions in Europe. Surrounded by green spaces at the northern edge of the Ruhr area Marl Chemical Park is well connected to international transport routes.

The site has a direct highway link, its own connection to the superregional rail system, and a dedicated inland harbor. The Wesel-Datteln Canal connects the  Chemical Park Marl to Duisburg, the River Rhine to the major harbors in Antwerp and Rotterdam. Düsseldorf International Airport and the world's largest inland port Duisburg are in close vicinity.

With more than six square kilometers Marl Chemical Park is one of the largest chemical industry locations in Germany. It is operated by Evonik, one of the world's leading specialty chemicals companies, and is also Evonik’s largest production site.

In addition to Evonik more than 10 other national and international companies are located in the chemical park. The approximately 100 production facilities are all closely integrated into the material supply system and energy network.
